Your collage compositions

In this course, equivalent to a 4-day workshop, we take a deep exploration into collage using a range of papers and approaches. We gather and create collage papers using a variety of media. We use these to develop exciting collage works on paper and in sketchbooks. A mix of collage composition studies, collage creations in a concertina sketchbook and mixed media layered collage studies on paper are produced.

Your Sketchbook Journey

In this course, equivalent to a 4-day workshop, we use sketchbooks to enable the development of an intuitive, experimental and flexible approach to our chosen subject. We use a variety of media and sketchbook types alongside different expressive approaches to broaden our understanding of the subject. Varied sketchbook pages, a series of handmade books and a studio journal are produced.

Making Your Mark

In this course, equivalent to a 3 day workshop, we explore the visual language of landscape through expressive mark making and playful mixed media approaches. We use a variety of media including charcoal and collage to explore shape, line, pattern and texture in the landscape and develop our visual language.
More about Liz Ackerley
Following degrees in science, garden and landscape design I spent several years as an illustrator. In the last few years I have taken further studies to become a mixed media artist. My creative practice is now focused on time spent drawing writing, painting and exploring.
Living in Saddleworth, surrounded by stunning landscape provides much inspiration for my own work. I spend time out on location exploring the subjects I am interested in, before taking them back to the studio for further development. I love to share my approaches with others and believe that through teaching and collaboration we can all evolve and develop our own creative practice.
I have taught art and design in a variety of settings for the last 20 years and to all ages and levels. In the last few years I have been teaching from my studio, at a variety of other UK locations and now online. I do hope that you enjoy making a connection with me and taking your own creative practice to the next level.
